Birthday Boy

It’s a glorious 43˚ outside and I have a couple windows open! I made a delicious, gourmet dinner last night of slow cooked maple baked beans, braised red cabbage and homestyle mashed potatoes. The entire house smelled glorious last night, but this morning the smell of dinner still lingered in the air and it was really bothering me. So, I am so happy that it was nice enough outside to open some windows for a bit and air out the house. Is anyone... Read More

Special Delivery

This afternoon we received a special delivery courtesy of Allan’s friend, Jason. A very friendly man delivered two boxes of warm, freshly baked Tank Goodness Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies to our doorstep. Since Allan is gluten-sensitive, these babies were all mine! Which is actually a very bad thing, because I ate two of them for lunch and now I have a major stomachache. Nothing that a good lifting session won’t help, though. And because... Read More

American Gothic

Life is absolutely crazy sometimes, isn’t it? I love the ups and downs, the hustle and calm, the glee and sorrow. It’s what makes us human, right? I live my days for this boy. I adore him. I simply cannot imagine life without him. I know that God intends for me to be doing exactly what I am at this point in my life – spending my days with this little man. Watching him learn, grow and mature. It is so much more rewarding and challenging... Read More

Forgiven

On Tuesday mornings, Matthew and I attend a bible study at a nearby South Minneapolis church. This is time that I commune with my sisters in Christ, who are soon becoming close friends, and Matthew can socialize with other little ones his age. It is an invaluable time for both of us to learn and explore. During the bible study hour I am watching the Beth Moore DVD study Here and Now, Then and There, which is a lecture series on Revelation. For the... Read More

Banana Split

A couple months ago Kath made split pea soup in a crock pot using a ham shank. It got me thinking… I had a ham bone and leftover diced ham vacuum sealed and frozen in our deep freeze for FAR too long. I had the intention of either using it in a smoky lentil soup or split pea soup, but never really go around to adding it to our meal plan – especially over the summer when the last thing that I am thinking about is soup! Last night I finally... Read More

We had a bit of an unusual weekend and decided that instead of kicking off the weekend with pizza night, we would end the weekend with the family’s favorite meal. Four Things Friday + Giveaway

1. A couple weeks ago, I was sent a sample of Morrocco Method Styling Dragon Pomade. As you know, I tried the complete line of Morrocco Method shampoos and conditioners this summer, as I tried to go ‘poo-free. When they offered to send me the Styling Dragon... Read More

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal Bars

This would be the post that I would share my New Year’s resolutions, if I were the type to make resolutions. However, honestly, I’m not a big believer in resolutions. I don’t need a new year in order to get me in the mood to set goals and reach them. I’m just the type of person who gets something in their head and then does everything possible to achieve my dreams. No new year necessary. However, I do find the New Year to... Read More
