I appologize in advance for the pics in this post, I completely forgot to have Allan take an official week 16 belly pic. What you see are the best photos that I have from dyeing Easter eggs on Friday.
I caught a little cold this week. I believe I had the same virus that caused Matthew’s bout with croup. Honestly, it hasn’t been that bad, it’s simply annoying to feel just slightly off.
I have been having very vivid dreams this week, but I’m not positive that they are all actual dreams. This happened a couple times last week: early in the morning, a couple hours before my alarm is set to go off, I wake up in a haze thinking that I just felt the baby move on the outside of my belly. I remember vividly feeling the baby move with my hand, but when I am finally awake, I do not feel the movement anymore. Is it possible that I am actually feeling strong kicks that are waking me up?
What Baby Peters is up to this week
Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he’s four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and pals and sing in the car. Thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints. And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light. (Source)
Energy level and mood
As I mentioned earlier, I had a cold this week that kept me feeling less than stellar. Aside from that, I was still able to get my Easter prep list completed along with spending some quality time with Matthew.
Exercise
I did get in a few organized workouts this week, in addition to a couple walks with Matthew. My goal is to workout during at least four naps per week, but with Easter prep I was only able to squeeze in three workouts – Prenatal Pilates on the Ball, Lindsay Brin’s Prenatal Workout and Yoga Journal Prental Yoga.
All things food
I feel like an eating machine this week. I really want to pace myself, as I know what it’s like to gain 40+ lbs when pregnant, which I did with Matthew. I was able to easily loose the weight after Matthew was born and actually ended up smaller post-pregnancy than I was pre-pregnancy; however, it would be nice to not have to struggle with body image and weight loss after this baby is born.
The good news is that I have been craving lots of fruits and vegetables. I can feel my palate changing from winter comfort foods to fresh, spring foods. I have been very interested in experimenting with raw recipes and loving it.
Nesting
This week was pretty quiet on the nesting front, which was a sweet relief.
Matthew
Matthew has reached the language explosion! It seems like he has at least one new word every day. My favorites this week were pretty, yellow and red. He has also been a signing machine. Several times a day he randomly bursts into song. His favorites are Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, ABC (Ah, Bee, Chee), Ba-Ba Black Sheep and The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
In addition, Matthew’s building skills are advancing every day. He loves to spend time creating at his Lego table. Even at this young age, it very obvious that he has an extremely creative, kinetic spirit.
Because Matthew was not feeling well, food this week has been a challenge. He continues to eat applesauce, eggs and grapes; but is hit or miss with some of his favorite foods like yogurt, cheese, peas, green beans and bananas.
