To my dearest Matthew for your first birthday.
He (Jesus) called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:2
Before you were born I thought that I understood what Jesus was was saying in this scripture; however, now I truly understand. Watching you day in and day out trusting, learning and exploring, I now know that the faith of a little child is unmatched. It is truly awe-inspiring to see you discover the world around us.
I am so very proud of the little man boy that you are becoming. Every day you amaze and inspire me with your joy, determination and intelligence. I am so happy that we are able to experience the world together.
Our adventures sometimes lead us on monotonous errands while other times we venture to far away places. No matter what, you are always learning, exploring and analyzing. Your eyes are always watching and absorbing the world around you.
You are very creative and are constantly figuring out new ways to maneuver your surroundings. From stacking, dragging and carrying, you will do whatever it takes to get from point A to point B. You are an amazing eater and sleeper. Your favorite foods are sweet potatoes, bananas, carrots, muffins and porridge. You also love to read – anything from picture books, cards to hymnals, as long it has words you are happy.
My love for you inspires me to want to make the world a better place for future generations. I desire for others to understand why we live clean so that they, too, can be blessed by such a lifestyle. That’s one of the reasons that I started this blog – to lead by example, not only for strangers, but also for those who are closest to us. We love them and want them to be around for a very long time. Living clean does not have to be cumbersome, it can be a joy that leads to longevity (with you).
Every day is filled with little surprises; you are constantly learning something new and thrilling. From the first day that you looked at me and said “ah-mama” to the first time that you cruised around the living room holding onto the furniture. I wake up each morning excited for what the day has in store for us, from the monotony to the adventures, we always have an amazing time.
Thank you for your love, besos, abrazos, laughter and joy. You have changed my life and given it true meaning.
I am so very lucky to be your mama. I love you.
